The ship has been
rocking ever since we left Princess Cays. Not enough to make anyone sick or to
keep a person from sleeping but enough that you do know you are on a ship.
We spent a very relaxing
morning. Had breakfast in our room and the red berries were back. YUMM
Then mid morning we went
to the International Café for a special coffee. I checked out the special sale
and bought nothing. We watched the vegetable carving and got lots of pictures.
For lunch we just had some fruit in our room.
Captain Nash disembarked
in Fort Lauderdale and we have a new captain. His name is Captain Martin
Stenzel. He was born in Scotland and currently lives in Boulder Colorado.
Everyday at noon they do a little report on the progress of the cruise. Usually
it is quite brief and could be done by one of the officers. But Captain Stenzel
does the report himself. He gives us a lot of detail and also educates us a
little. Today he defined a league and a chain and a nautical mile and a knot.
It is really quite nice and we find ourselves looking forward to the report and
wondering what he will tell us today.
I spent some time going
around the ship to take pictures for my photobook.
After lunch we went to the Cruise Critic get
together. It was a small group but it was very nice. We did a lot of visiting.
Then Ken and I came back to the room. Ken got some sun and I went out to play
champagne hoopla. It is a game where you are given 3 small rings and if you are
successful in tossing the ring so it hoops a bottle of champagne you get to
keep the bottle. There were 3 rings and 3 bottles. I knocked the bottle over
but I didn’t hoop it and I couldn’t convince the gal that I should be allowed
to keep it.
This was formal night so
we had canapés delivered to our room. It was the Captain’s welcome aboard party
complete with the champagne waterfall.
We got new table mates
tonight and they seem very nice. One couple is from Kingston, Ontario ( Keith
and Marion) and one is from Indiana, (John and Diana). We were so surprised to
see that Marion was wearing an X ring. It turns out she is from Canso, Nova
Scotia and she graduated from the Teachers College. We certainly had fun
swapping stories about the college and JP Mac Carthy.
After dinner we went to
Explores to see Christopher James again. We went early to get a good seat. He
was just as good the second time. After that we called it a night.
Tomorrow we are back in
Saint Thomas.
