Le Germain,
The hotel
we were assigned in Montreal was Le Germain.
Ken checked
it on Google and we learned it was le3ss than a half mile from the station so
with our new suitcase with the four wheels we decided that we would walk to the
hotel. A very friendly VIA attendant assured us of our directions and so away
we went. It was a little tricky in spots because the pavement was rough in
spots and it was basically uphill. But we made it safely with all of the wheels
in tact.
A bellman
came out and took my suitcase up the stairs. We were given a great welcome and,
told about the free breakfast.
I inquired
about checkout and I was assured that we could stay in our room as long as we
needed to . There would be no extra charge for staying in our room until late
afternoon. The train to Halifax does not leave until seven.
When we arrived
at our room …807… we were favorably impressed. It is very different from the
different Fairmonts that we have been staying in. It is sleek and modern with
12 foot ceilings and 12 foot doors. It was very roomy with a sitting area and a
king sized bed and a desk. The bathroom was in 2 sections. One section had the
toilet and the other had the sink and tub area. It was really quite lovely with
lots of windows. There was free coffee and water and the mini bar was well
stocked with very expensive items including ten dollar jelly beans.
. great
wifi.
After our
rest we decided to go out and explore. Quite by accident we ran into Johnny and Joyce. We located the spot where the Hop ON Hop Off bus is located. We plan to
take it in the morning.
We walked together and found a food court that had a Subway and that was our choice for supper.

We then
made our way back to the hotel and our lovely room. We had a very good rest.
