Digby, with a population of 2,152, overlooks the picturesque Annapolis Basin. The main industries of the area are fishing and tourism.
The Town of Digby has been an active fishing community throughout the years and is famous for the delicious scallops harvested from our local waters. With our waterfront location on the shores of the Annapolis Basin, the area offers clear, crisp air and, of course, spectacular viewing of the incredible tides (27ft. to 32 ft.) in our harbour.
Digby is central to many activities, including historic sites, some of the best whale watching in North America, lovely parks, hiking trails, and our own local championship golf course Digby Pines which was designed by Stanley Thompson.
Digby is a sister community to Saint John, New Brunswick. A ferry service has joined these two locations on opposite sides of the Bay of Fundy for over 200 consecutive years.
Located in Digby are a variety of accommodations, cafes, restaurants, shops, and a full service marina for our yachting visitors, including the services of an active shipyard for major repairs if needed. We also offer a wide variety of services and facilities in keeping with the role of Shire Town of Digby County.
Digby is located near Route 101, a major highway, and is close to the Digby Annapolis Regional Airport which is the highest Airport in Nova Scotia.It also offers the only year round ferry service connecting Nova Scotia to New Brunswick. Digby, in partnership with the neighbouring Municipality, has created an Industrial Park offering entrepreneurial visitors a great place to start a new business or expand an existing venture.
