Day 6

Bonne Bay is a bay in Newfoundland, Canada. It is located on the western coast of Newfoundland and separates the Great Northern Peninsula from the rest of the island. It is a part of Gros Morne National Park. It is separated into two sections: Inner Bonne Bay and Outer Bonne Bay.

DAY 6:

Thursday – Gros Morne Touring  Breakfast, Picnic Lunch and Dinner included Today will be an unforgettable experience as you discover why Gros Morne National Park is truly one of the highlights of your vacation. It is said that the scenery that you are about to see is unequaled in Canada. Depending upon which option you chose on booking, your day will be complemented by either a boat tour on Bonne Bay or on Western Brook Pond. If you did not make a selection upon booking, you will enjoy the Bonne Bay tour.

We choose the boat tour because the Western Brook Pond involved a 10 hour hike .. Not for us!!

The Tour

Climb aboard our catamaran, the EMM-CAT and view the pristine waters, breath taking scenery and treasures of the Bay.  Live commentary throughout the cruise highlights the geological wonders, the rich cultural history and the Bay’s fascinating diversity. In this incredible setting, it is a great opportunity to photograph the extraordinary wildlife such as bald eagles, moose, whales, and seabirds. It is a photographer’s paradise!

Our sixth day was another day of sun, not only sunny it was hot. I knew I was cold during the last boat tour so I made sure to wear my tights and heavy socks etc. I definitely did not need those extras. The sun was shining and a warm breeze was blowing. It was even warm on the water

We boarded and found that this boat was much less crowded. We had room to move around and take pictures from different angles. The crew were definitely Newfoundlanders and listening to the expressions and accent was really entertaining.thegeology of this place is truly amazing. The tipping of the strata layers was amazing. We saw lots of eagles and also some lobster fishers were on the order pulling traps. Our guides were amazing. They were so very knowledgable regarding the geology, they were entertaining with stories and jokes.

They finished our 2 hours by making us honorary Newfoundlanders with Screech and kissing the cod. Then the perfect finish was provided by the crew singing and playing and treating us to Newfy music. Of course they finished with I's the Bye. We disembarked the boat at noon so we were gone for a full 2 hour journey. We loved every minute of it. The good weather was an extra bonus.

WE had our boxed lunch at the local legion. This was a back up plan in case of rain.

We visited the Discovery Center where we learned more about the amazing geology of Gros Morne,

From there we headed for Trout Brook. It is a beautiful village on the shore of the bay. We stumbled across a celebration. There was a special graduation for the Kindergarten class. Most of the village was involved. It was so very special.

Back at Shallow Bay we were feasting on lobster. They did a grand job. Ken was in his glory.

Tomorrow we head to Gander
