During the night the ship just roamed around because the Island of Moorea is only 17 miles away.
When we dropped anchor the views were rather spectacular.
The island is beautiful and what we imagine when we think of a tropical island. It is lush and green with amazing coloured waters.
We had breakfast upstairs and then met Jan and Al and we disembarked right away. The tender ride was great. It had to go around reefs so it was a bit longer and we loved it. The sun was shining and it was warm and humid but wonderful at the same time.
When we landed on the island we were greeting by native dancers and dozens of vendors. They were selling lots of souvenirs and of course there were lots of pearls. But there were no flowered umbrellas. I guess I will have to go to Amazon.ca.
There were many tours available and the one we chose involved a boat ride to a beautiful tropical beach. We would be given a return trip plus fruit and juice and a chance to take a short trip to see sharks and manta rays, and of course a return ride. We could stay as long as we liked and the boat would be traveling back and forth every hour. The cost of this would be only 40 dollars each.
All 4 of us thought that was great. The views were great. The ride was fast and we were often sprayed with sea water. It was warm and exhilarating in a way.
The day was hot but with a constant breeze it was not uncomfortable. I got quite a bit of a tan and I just enjoyed the beauty of the area.
Ken snorkeled and said there were lots of fish for him to see.
The return ride was lots of fun again partly because of the speed involved.
Sailaway was beautiful.
In the dining room Jose let me know that they do have sugar free ice cream. Now that is a game changer.
Five busy port days have come to an end. I think I am glad because it was too busy. But now tomorrow will be the first of eight sea days. I am looking forward to relaxing and enjoying the ship.
