Belize, January 23

January 23rd, Belize

Today we had a tour of Belize. This was a tender port and we were transferred by local tenders. They were large catamarans. The passage was quick and smooth.

Our tour was with an outfit called The Real Thing.

We met the driver and he took us to his van. There were 8 of us in all. The van looked very good on the outside but the inside was a very different story. Actually we were concerned that we may not make it back to the ship. But we did.

We had a running narrative telling us all about the countryside, the government and the culture.
The main reason for the tour was a visit to Altun Ha. It was a Mayan archaeological site with temples and loads of history.

We walked the grounds as our guide told us of the area's history and also the plants etc.

It was a very good tour and then it was back to the van for a bit of a nerve racking ride. The men have discussed the matter and they have concluded that it was either the transmission or the differential. But what ever it was it hung on until we got back to the ship.

The captain circle party was this night so we were dressed in our formal wear. Because of the conflict in times we ate at Alfredo's after the party instead of going to our usual dining room. The food was good but it certainly did not compare to the lobster and escargo we would have enjoyed in the dining room.

Tomorrow we go to Cosumel!!
