We almost
missed breakfast, we were sleeping so soundly. There was a very thick fog last
evening and we could hear the ship blowing the fog horn every minute. But the sea was calm and we slept so
very soundly.
We woke at
8:15 and they stop serving breakfast in the dining room at 9:00 so we had to
hurry. But we did make it. The special this morning was eggs Benedict and that
is what Ken ordered. I asked for berries if they had any and sliced banana if
they did not have berries. I was so pleasantly surprised when sliced
strawberries arrived. Ken had the cinnamon apple slices. I also had oatmeal
with cinnamon and raisins. Coffee and an order of whole wheat toast finished
breakfast nicely. We ended up at a table with a young man named Chris, and a
lady from Langley named Ann. We have sat with someone from Langley every time
we have been in a dining room.
Captain
Tuvo came by and said hello again. This time I was able to get a picture. He
has to be the most social captain we have ever sailed with. When he sign off he
says Bye Bye and we notice that the staff in the dining room also says Bye Bye
when you are leaving.
When we
left the dining room we decided to go to the international café and get our
coffee card. There was a line up. Everyone enjoying this great feature of the
ship.
Next we
checked out the art gallery. They have some amazing Tarkay’s and some Goddards
that are new to us as well as a Krasnyansky that we had not seen before.
We did not
win the wake show draw so we entered again for the next draw. That entry spot
is on deck five as well.
Our
immigration time is nine o’clock and our tour check in time is 10:40 so there
is not a conflict. That is a good thing.
I went to
the interview of Captain Tuvo and it was fascinating. He is so personable and
was so at ease. I loved every minute of it.
At the end
of the interview Ken met me and we picked up a quiche and a dessert and took it
back to our cabin
.
There was
such a crowd in the international café that finding a seat was impossible.
There had been a chocolate demo before the captain’s interview and there was
going to be a martini demonstration happening after, which was the reason for
the crowds.
Lunch was
great and then after lunch we decided to check out the pictures that were taken
last night. The pictures were quite good.
Next came
the Art Auction. It was a lot of fun. The auctioneer Sean Paitaki was amazing. I don't know how they can talk non stop at that speed for so long.
It is a good that we have a lot of wall
space in our new house because it appears as if we will have 2 new pieces of
art to hang. We won Winding River and Village Road by Alex Perez. We considered
framing them ourselves but they gave us such a good price that we could not say
no and so they are framing them and we will have them to hang in our new home
in time for Christmas.
They have 2
Happy Hours each day one is from 3 to 4 and one is 10 till 11. The drink of the
day was the Captains Bounty. It is made from 4 different flavors of rum. We
picked up 2 and enjoyed them as we waited for time to go to dinner.
Dinner was
great as usual. Ken enjoyed his surf and turf. During dinner I kept watching
for Carol’s cousin and even though it
did not seem very probable we found them. They are in the same dining room. We
exchanged information and we made a date to have lunch together on Monday. This
is a big ship but perhaps it is not too big after all.
We went to
the draw in the photo department and we did not win.
We made the
arrangements for the shipping of our new art works and then we went to the
international café to have a coffee with our brandy.
Tomorrow we
are in Long Beach from 7 am until 11 pm, a nice long day.
