Endicot Arm
This is our seventh cruise in Alaska and today we viewed a new to us glacier field.
As we were heading in we saw the Discovery Princess exiting the arm.
The Grand proceeded slowly allowing us to enjoy the amazing views. One of the rangers described what we were seeing. The fact that the rounded hills were the ones that were under the glaciers at one time and the few sharp pointed ones were not. It is so hard to realize that the ice was hundreds of feet deep at one time.
As we got closer to the end of the inlet there were lots of burger bits floating in the water. Some were very large. The captain chose not to go too close with an abundance of caution. The glacier had calved recently and the captain did a complete turn so we all could get a vier of the glacier and the amazing waterfall. We could hear the rushing waters.
Tonight was the Captain Circle reception. We dressed for dinner and guickly arrived at the Vista Lounge only to discover that we were an hour early. They were still playing Bingo.
As we walked around we met Gary and Debbie and asked them to take our picture. We had not yet had a photo. A big change from that first cruise when we had several pictures taken.
We were given these figures
Blue medalions........388
Gold........................240
Ruby......................175
Platinum..................418
Elite........................351
Most days with Princess.....965
second most days..............845
Third most travelled passenger 765.
The reception was at 5 and our dinner is at five so as soon as the reception was over we headed to the dining room. We arrived at 5:30 so we still had lots of time to enjoy our dinner with our new friends.
Tomottow we are in Kefchikan.
