He Surprised me!

This was a very good day.
Because we had a shore excursion that was leaving at 8:00 we had room service breakfast.
It went smoothly and we boarded bus 2012 and out guide and driver Lance was soon regaling us with stories of the gold rush.

The mountain tops were partly shrouded but not completely so many of the views were spectacular.
The waterfalls were amazing as well.

We had no problems with customs and we did stop at the summit where the welcome to Alaska sign was.

The next major stop was at a graveyard where many of the gold rush miners were buried.

We located the graves of Soapy Smith and Frank Reid. Since my maiden name is Reid, I wonder????

(This miner was from Cape Breton)

Soon we were back in town.
Our last event was to take in the show titled "Days of 98 with Soapy Smith". The play took place in a building on Broadway  which was amusing. This was to be my first Broadway show.
A quick summary:
Soapy Smith and Frank Reid were real people. They were basically crooks whose goal was to fleece as many of the miners that they could. Soapy had a special lady and together they ran a brothel.
The ladies who worked there decided that if Alice could get a man they should be able to get one for themselves.
They came into the audience looking for a man. Ken was chosen. They wooed him and then took him upstairs to show him what they could do.
WELL
He was supposed to be a 2 timers because he confess love for them both and made the same promises to them both. When the truth was known they sent him packing.

It was so funny. Ken was so good he went along with them and played the part so well. He had the audience in stitches.

At the end he was given a special certificate for taking part.

Some pictures from the show!!!

At the end of the show he got a picture taken with the Ladies and he was presented with a certificate for being such a good sport.

After the show we walked around and explored a few shops.
Then we returned to the ship enjoying the views and the flowers along the way.

Tomorrow we will be scenic cruising in Glacier Bay and tomorrow evening is
the Captain's Circle Party.
