The ship is decorated for Alaskan traveling. It looks gay and festive.
We arrived at Icy Strait right on schedule, around noon.
We gathered our things and went to our meeting place and left the ship in a group.
The way to get from the ship to the shore was indeed different. But it was much better than using a tender.
This is the first time we have been to Icy Strait Point. Apparently it opened the cruise ship terminal in 2004. They were visited by fewer than 50 ships that year and they are expecting to have almost 150 ships this year.
We are not surprised. They did an amazing job of developing this place. It is superior in all regards. We really were impressed during our visit.
We took a cooking course here. It was amazing because the teacher was so interesting. We learned how to make a salmon appetizer, a salmon burger and Halibut Italian sausage. Then we went outside and cooked salmon and Halibut.
We were able to sample all of the food and believe me it was delicious. We took recipes with us. I will be trying these for certain.
After our course we walked around the center and we enjoyed some mini donuts, walked the shore,
( Ken looked for and found some sea glass.
We slowly strolled back to the ship and enjoyed some time on the balcony till it was time for dinner.
The weather was sunny and warm and so much better than was forecast.
Tomorrow we are in Juneau and the weather is not supposed to be sunny but you never know. There was a 50% chance of rain for today.
