Sunday

We slept well and woke to a much clearer sky. The smoke has left and things look so much brighter. We enjoyed a breakfast of cereal with fresh peaches. YUMMY.

We decided to explore the campground after we did a bit of housework in the trailer. It certainly is beautiful. Besides being well laid out and exceptionally well maintained it has grand pieces of art decorating it.

We walked down to one of the beach areas. It is lovely. We saw a few flocks of quail. We figure there must be hundreds of them here.

Ken is checking the water temperature.

While we were there we watched the water bombers coming and going. There were four planes and they were cycling every 10 minutes or so. I guess they were fighting a fire in Kerameus. It is hard to imagine the skill involved in doing this. You have to be aware of what else is on the lake, you can;t go too deep and you can't pick up too much water. It is a delicate balancing act.

We returned to the rig and had lunch. Of course we were spell bound by the report of Irma and its arrival in Florida. We are so thankful not to be in Florida and feel so sorry for those who are.

Note this interesting sign.

We decided to go to the local winery and do a wine tasting. The Adega winery is right here. We could have walked but we didn't. The grounds and the building are beautiful. We enjoyed the tasting and left there with 3 bottles of wine and one jar of Pomegranate habanero jelly. I was surprised to read that the jelly was produced in Langley for the Gourmet Chef.

The sun was quite warm by then and we enjoyed seeing some of the special places in Osoyoos. The name is a native word for "The narrows". This refers to the narrow spot here the lake almost divides into two. There is a lovely park complete with benches, flower boxes and a beautiful fountain.

We shopped for coffee and then checked out a different RV park just in case we need it sometime.

We returned to the rig and before long the sky clouded over and it looks as if the smoke is back.

Ken called his cousin and we are having dinner with her on Tuesday evening. We called to reserve a sight in Penticton for Tuesday night.

Tomorrow we will be taking Sylvia with us when we visit the Desert Model Railroad.
