People have asked about activities on a cruise. What can you do when you are at sea all day? Don't you get bored?
What is there to do ?
You can do almost everything on a cruise that you do on land.
Do you like to go for a walk when you are at home? Well you can go for a walk when you are on a cruise also. You can walk the promenade deck and view the sea while doing it. You can also walk the top deck. There are usually about 15 decks on a ship and at least 9 are available for you to walk. If you walk these decks you can see some of the many door decorations around the ship. Many people like us bring several sets of decorations so they change regularly. One lady on board right now changes here decorations every day.
Do you choose to go to the gym some days? Every cruise ship has a gym, some are small, some are large and they are available every day. You do not have to drive through traffic to get there and there is no fee to use them. There are some free classes as well.
Do you like to shop? Window shop? Sale shop? Every ship has stores for you to shop or just window shop. There are jewelry stores, dress shops, sundry stores, liquor stores and the list goes on. The number of stores varies depending on the size of the ship. All of the ships have special sales as well. Princess ships always have special 10 dollar days and sales on out of season items.
Do you like to meet friends for coffee sometimes? You can do that on board the ship. And that will include free goodies and free regular coffee or tea. If you want special coffees you may have to pay extra for that.
Do you like to just relax and read a good book? You can curl up in the library and enjoy a good book and have room service bring you a snack and a drink.
Do you enjoy going to a movie sometimes? Well you can do that on a ship also. First rate movies are shown on deck 14 for Movies Under the Stars. Not only are the movies at no charge but you get free popcorn and you can bring a beverage and cookies if you would like. Movies are also often shown in the Princess Theatre in the afternoon with the same conditions. I watched the new Death on the Nile in the theatre last week. The new Elvis movie was shown under the stars a few weeks ago. They often show old favorites up there as well. Ken watched a Pirates of the Caribbean movie for the umteenth time a week ago.
Do you like to go to the occasional educational lecture ? Well on port days there are no such lectures but on all sea days there is at least one. During this cruise there is always a lecture about one of the upcoming ports each morning. In the afternoon there is usually another. For a few weeks these talks were about the war in the Pacific, now the lecture is about science topics such as The speed of light, the formation of the oceans etc. There is no charge and you can bring food and or drinks with you.
Do you like to go to a craft class every now and then? Again sea days feature craft classes. There is no fee involved, all classes are different and there is room for 100 cruisers each session. You can take in as many or as few as you like.
Do you go to BINGO? Well you can play Bingo on board but this is not free. It is very popular with some people.
Do you think you might like to take a water color class one day.? You can do that here also. Again there is no charge, not even for supplies.
Do you enjoy doing a jig saw puzzle friends? There are jig saw puzzles in the library on deck 8 in this ship. Friends come and go putting in a piece or they stay fro hours working on the current puzzle.
Do you enjoy roaming around an art gallery? Every Princess ship has an art gallery, some large and some small and the displays change frequently. The halls and other public places always display pieces of art for you to enjoy.
What about getting together with friends to play a game of cards or a board game? .There are several spots set aside on this cruise to do just that. People get together everyday, different people at different days.
Do you like to drop in at a casino once in a while? Every Princess ship has a casino, some larger than others and you can always go there in hopes of winning the jackpot or another cruise.
Besides all of these activities there is trivia twice a day, other games, goofy golf, shuffle board, ice carving demonstrations, fruit carving demonstrations, line dancing, karaoke, basketball shoot outs, ship building, paper plane flying, ring toss, poker tournaments, Bible study , piano bars, ballroom dancing, High Tea, massages, a full beauty salon with all of the services, pop choir, ball room dancing lessons, ping pong, napkin folding demonstration, martini demonstrations, fruit carving demonstrations, fashion shows and the list goes on and on. And don't forget you always have to leave time to eat.
So in answer to the question of "What is there to do?" Lots! It would be hard to get bored on a cruise ship and none of it involves cooking or cleaning YEAH!!!!
