Rome, November 3rd

Your gateway to the Eternal City, Civitavecchia has served as Rome's seaport since the 13th century. The port has a long and venerable history. The emperor Trajan built a pleasure villa near the modern city, while Bernini and Michelangelo designed the harbor fortifications.

Yet the Eternal City eternally beckons. The ancient capital of the Western World and the center of Christianity for nearly 2,000 years, Rome provides an inexhaustible feast. Visit the ruins of the Forum, view the splendors of the Sistine Chapel, or climb the Spanish Steps, once the heart of Rome's Bohemian Quarter.

Rome has been a magnet luring the world's greatest artists, architects, and philosophers since the days of the Caesars.
We have arranged to do a private tour here. We will be with 2 other couples. The six of us will have a limo and a driver. The description says we will get back to the ship around 5:30 we have opted to shorten the tour so we are certain not to miss the ship. That is a constant fear of cruisers who take private tours. We are really looking forward to seeing Rome. We have heard about it so many times.
In our company we have a vast array of private tours. The typical one I suggest for you on Saturday the 3rd of November, is the classical private full-day Tour 13 with pick up at 7:30 am from the pier of Civitavecchia dock, sightseeing in ROME and coming back to the port at roughly 5:30 p.m., starting from Rome at 3:30 p.m.
You will be able to sightsee all Rome , even visiting inside the places you like, by our air-conditioned luxury Mercedes  minivan (able to host up to 8 Tourists), arriving directly in front of the main highlights, thanks to a special permission in the historical centre. The history of Rome will be explained on board by an English-speaking tourist driver-guide.
We generally go to the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Ancient Rome, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, St. Peter's Basilica,Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel, etc... (of course you can customize your private tour adding the places you like)
There are stops for photos, visits and if you like possible lunchtime in a typical 'family restaurant' for a plate of 'fettuccine', pizza, a taste of wine,..
e a private guided tour.

We did all of this and it was wonderful. I will post pictures as soon as I can.
