Ken and I left early and we decided to meander up the coast.
The weather was less than ideal but we did stop at the cheese factory in Tillamook and had lunch and ice cream.
We decided to spend the night at Big Spruce RV campground which is in Netarts so we could watch the hockey game.
Needless to say that wasn't very pleasant.I never know what the Canucks are going to do.
Because there will be a game seven we will be heading home tomorrow. We sure hope they bring their A Game.
We will get close by tomorrow evening and will probably spend the night in a rest area or the like and we will cross the border around noon on Wednesday so we will be able to watch the game at home.
So I don't expect to have WIFI tomorrow so I am signing off on this blog.
The next adventure is an Alaskian Cruise from July 9th to July 23 so tune in if you want to follow us .

Meadow Foam
This area around Harrisburg and Junction City is an area where they raise grass seed. So there are fields and fields of grasses.
BUT there was a strange crop I didn't recognize. It looked like a field of milk, a creamy white color and it was smooth, it didn't wave like wheat does.
After questioning several local people I discovered that it is called MEADOW FOAM.
The seeds produce an oil that has many uses including being a main ingredient in many kinds of cosmetics.
This is a picture of a field of Meadow Foam and a close up of the blossom.
It needs bees for pollination and so honey is a by product. They say the honey is very tasty.

Phil and Leah Kimball
Came to an end
Friday afternoon I went shopping in Junction city. I found a little craft co-operative and I got a beautiful hat box, a set of red hat cosmetic cases and some lettering for my scrap booking.
We stayed here for supper because we wanted to watch the hockey game. Amazingly and thankfully the Canucks won.
After the game we went up to the hot tub and joined Marilyn and Roland for a soak. It was very nice.
Saturday was the end of the rally. In the morning we had a great breakfast together. The men cooked and it was great. After breakfast there was a bit of a meeting with thank yous and the like. Saturday afternoon we relaxed and enjoyed the resort. We had gone to the hot tub last evening and we thought about going again but there were kids using the pools so we just stayed here. Happy hour was at four and we had a great visit.
There was a catered dinner of Mexican food at six. The food was plentiful and good.
Lots of good byes and hugs. Most will leave in the morning.
Sunday is Leah's birthday and Phil and Leah are going to Florence for dinner. They have invited us to join them and we have accepted. We will stay here for one more night so we will not have to rush in the morning.
Sunday
We slept late and spent a relaxing morning. I did a thorough search of the trailer. We are still looking for Ken's glasses. We have had no luck at all.
Around one o'clock we left for the coast. Phil drove.
It turned out to be a rainy and not very pleasant day. But we grabbed our umbrellas and had fun anyway. I did a lot of looking but the only thing I purchased was one of those things you put in your brown sugar to keep it soft.
Then we went to dinner and the foodwas wonderful.
I had crab encrusted halibut and Ken had the wild salmon. We shared a decadent dessert.
We got back here around 8:30. The original plan was to go to the hot tub but it is cold and it had been raining here as well so we are just watching television.
We head out tomorrow but I am not sure where we will be going.
Stay tuned.

Spending the day
Ken went golfing and basically I was on my own. I walked up to the meeting place and on the way I discovered that Linda, one of the golf widows was locked out of her rig so I invited her to come back here with me. We were chatting and having a cool drink of pop when another of the widows, Marilyn came bay and suggested a shopping trip. Not being one to refuse a chance to shop I agreed and all 4 of us widows went together to a shopping mall near Eugene. I purchased some perfume and some shower gel and the other ladies also purchased a couple of small items. We got back to the resort in time for happy hour.
After that we had to come back here to complete our contribution to the pot luck supper. I brought a carrot dish. The pot luck was great as usual and there was lots of food.
After supper we played card bingo. The prizes were mainly old silver dollar coins from the 1970's. It will be fun to see what they are worth right now. Anyway between the 2 of us we won 3 games and a total of 18.00 which was very good. Finally we came back here, watched a bit of TV and called it a night
The internet was spotty and that is why I didn't blog last evening.

Hull Oakes Lumber Company
Today we went on a tour of the Hull Oakes Lumber Company Nd it was completely fascinating. It is the oldest operating steam powered lumber company in the United States. It makes product that no one else can make. In other words it does speciality orders. Every thing they produce is pre ordered before it is cuy and they make very specissl one of a kind items such as 85 foot beams for large structures and wooden gutter systems for very old home restorations. I enjoyed every minute of the tour. Amazingly it is a fourth generation family owned business.

It has begun
Well the rally has begun.
Yesterday was arrivals and lots of visiting. Then last evening we had the ice cream social. There are 14 rigs and 4 people in the motel. It was cool again last night but it is sunny and bright today.
Ken is off golfing, there are 6 golfers so they should have fun. The day started with coffee and toast and donuts and fruit. I skipped the donuts. We had a great time visiting. As usual it ended up with the guys at one table and the men at another.
After breakfast there was line dancing in the great room but I decided to shower and then wash and set my hair so I came back to the rig.
I heard a strange noise when I turned the hair dryer off and to my surprise there was a mobile rig washer across the way. One of the big Prevost Country Coaches has called in someone to wash the rig for them. I am surprised because I was thinking about how clean and shinny it was just this morning. There is a lot of chrome on the rig and it was just sparkling, but I guess it wasn't sparkling enough.
Later today is the pot luck supper and I am bringing a carrot dish so I will leave to cook this afternoon... a bummer.. LOL.

Tuesday June 7th
It is showery today and so we are just relaxing and taking it easy.
Yesterday we went into Harrisburg,( almost missed it because it is so small,) and then to Junction City. Ken had to see a man about our Smart Tire module. While waiting for him he went to the Dollar Tree. It is a nice one with a good selection of stuff. We got the funnels we were looking for, and I got a new shower cap. We are the last of the big spenders hee hee.
We came back here and got set to watch that hockey game. Unfortunately we cannot watch it here. But fortunately Ken could get the radio broadcast on his Dell.
What happened to the Canucks???
At the end of the second period we left the trailer and went to visit with Sarah and Wayne Gable who are also here for the rally and are just a couple of spots away. We had a nice visit and then came back here and checked the final score of the game....8 to 1.....unbelievable!!I sure hope they got that out of their system.
Yesterday was fascinating as we watched the arrival of rig after rig. There are 2 other groups gathering and they are the ultra expensive ones. Most run from a half million to over a million dollars each. Amazing, truly amazing. Millions and millions of dollars in rigs are parked here right now.
Tomorrow is the actual start of the rally so we will be seeing friends arrive then.
We will spend today relaxing and just enjoying the fact that it is cool and we are not being subjected to those 100 degree temperatures.

We are in Harrisburg,Oregon and all set up and ready to stay here for a week and enjoy the Oregon Travel Club spring rally.
We left Abbotsford yesterday morning around 9:30 and it took us almost an hour to cross the border. Then we had to wait for the post office to open the wicket to get the parcels we were waiting for. We stopped to see Harry and Susan and leave her some necklaces.
Finally we were on our way. We stopped and had lunch and continued along. The day was unbelievably beautiful. It was so clear and sunny. The spring has established itself and the trees are in full leaf with so many wonderful shades of green everywhere. And the mountains could take your breath away. The snow was so bright and white and the air was so clear. At one point Mount Rainier was in front of us, the Olympic mountains were on the right , the Coastals were on the left and in the rear view mirror you could see Mount Baker. Such an amazing moment!!
Right now the Scottish Broom is in bloom. It is such a bright eggyolk yellow that it is almost garrish. The medians and the fields are full of it and the fragrance fills the air. I am so glad that I am not allergic to it.The traffic was quite heavy and we can't help but wonder were everyone is going.
Around 4:30 we were in Southern Washington near Chehalis. We stop here often and there is a large Wal-mart where we get some groceries. Today was special because we knew that the hockey game was about to begin. We went to the electronics department and found out that we couldn't watch the game there but one of the clerks told us that there was an Applebees in the center and that they carried sports events. So we put our groceries in the rig and away we went. We asked at the door if they could turn their television to the hockey game and after giving us a strange smile the manager said yes, so we asked for a table.
We were shown to a booth near a television . When our server arrived we told her we wanted very slow service so we could watch the game. After her initial surprise she smiled and told us she knew nothing about hockey but she agreed to be very slow with her service. One television set had the game with no sound and one had it closed captioned. You know trying to read and watch the play at the same time is almost impossible. So we opted for a silent presentation. Trying to watch a hockey game when there is no sound is certainly different and watching it when you are in public and must be quiet was a challenge for both us to say the least. Well we managed to drag out supper for the three periods of regulation time but we really believed we would be pressing our luck to stay for overtime so we left the restraunt. But of course we needed to know what happened so we went back to the trailer and picked up my little net book and we went to the Starbucks which was also in the center. There, after a few tense moments, I was able to get on line and we found out that Burrows had scored at the 11 second mark of the first overtime. How wonderful was that!!
We walked, shopped the Dollar Tree and called it a night. We spent the night right there at exit 79 on the I-5.
This morning we had breakfast at the Starbucks,,, a sort of a thank you for the WI Fi.
Today was also beautiful. Not as sharp as yesterday but the broom and the California Poppies and the lupins and the blooming shrubs were glorious in the sun.
We stopped at Camping World in Wilsonville Oregon. This is one of our favouite places to browse. You never know what you will find for the trailer. Today I found a very small electric frying pan. Just big enough to cook 2 eggs. No more burning things when trying to adjust the gas stove in the trailer. We ate lunch in the trailer in the parking lot at Camping world and away we went again.
We arrived here at the resort around 4:30. Even though the rally does not begin until Wednesday there is one couple here already.
It is a beautiful resort with a pool and a hot tub and paved parking pads. Most important of all it has cable TV. We sure hope the hockey game is on because we don't know where the nearest sports bar or an Applebees csn be found.GO CANUCKS GO!!!
We are all set up and ready to enjoy the next week.
We hope the weather co-operates.
