Skagway,Alaska

Skagway Alaska,
Today we are in Skagway and it is another lovely day.
Our tour was to leave at 8:30 so we had breakfast and went ashore.
Our bus was there so we boarded right away. Out driver was Tony and he was a lot of fun. When everyone was on board we pulled away and we were given a guided tour of this small village. We arrived at the Jewel gardens about 15 minutes later.
What a wonderful surprise. The gardens are about 2 acres and it is amazing. The sun rose at 4:23 and sunset is not until 10:26 so all of that gives lots of sunlit hours to grow. Through a lot of the garden there was a wonderful little garden train running so Ken was in his glory. There was a glass blowing place on the grounds and some of the pieces were lovely
After the tour we were treated to a wonder tea. They served delicious goodies many of which contained things from the garden. While we attended the tea our guide Juan sang and played the guitar. It really was a great tour. I purchased a small pin that was like a centipede with several bright stones.
On the return to the ship Tony dropped us off downtown and we roamed a little and then went to the tourist bureau. There I was able to get a stamp for my National Parks Passport. We also watched a nice little video telling the history of the area. We also got picture from inside the Red Onion. It was also a place of horizontal pleasures in days gone by.:-)
We walked back to the ship and by then it was time for lunch.
Dinner was a bit different because Jim and Gerry and Hilary and Tom were given a certificate to eat at Sabatini’s as a token of appreciation from their Travel Agent. They were also given bottles of wine from their TA. We will have to look into that. So there were only 4 of us at the table.
After dinner we went to Explorers longue with Penny and Glen and we watch the North to Alaska Show with Skagway entertainer Steve Hites. He played the guitar and the harmonica, told jokes and sang songs about Alaska. It was very good.
After that we got a drink of water and called it a night. A great day ends.
Tomorrow we see the Glaciers!!
