Glacier Bay,
It is not a very nice day. It is quite foggy when we awake and we are disappointed to know that we will not get a very good view of the Glaciers.:-)
We went upstairs for breakfast and we could hear the ranger on the PA system telling us all about glacier formation and the geology of the area. We went to the station and I got a stamp for my National Parks Passport. Glacier Bay is an actual park and you get there by ship which is kind o f neat.
We were cold on deck so we got one of the blankets that Princess supplies and wrapped up in them.
By the time we got to the face of John Hopkins Glacier the fog had cleared somewhat and we had a good view. Then when we arrived at the Margerie Glacier it was really quite nice, cold and clear but nice. We saw and heard some amazing calfing and got some unbelievable pictures. What a great morning it was. At noon they had a buffet of Alaskian food and a reindeer chile cook off. It was a mad house. So many people. Later at dinner Glen described it by saying “Seagulls have more class”.
We went to the peaceful dining room for lunch and skipped all of that chaos.
The rangers disembarked the ship around three and by then it was time to get ready for dinner followed by the Captain’s circle party. Penny and Glen said they would save us seats at the show and Jim and Gerry and Ken and I went to meet the captain. It was really too rushed .
The show was Piano Man and the costumes were sensational . After wards we stopped and had portraits taken.
Anyway the show was great and then we went upstains for water and then off to bed.
Tomorrow is the last full day for some but we are so happy to be doing the B2B… we stll have a wonderful week left.
