The Second
Leg Begins,
We are
awake and waiting for room service to bring breakfast. Today will be a mad
house upstairs at the buffet with over three thousand people looking for one
last meal before they disembark so we have decided to skip that scene. If you
are disembarking you have no choice because the stewards need you out of the
room so they can bet ready for the embarking passengers. All of the new rooms
have to be ready by noon. But for those of us who are staying for the next
cruise room service is available.
I am down to
12 minutes left on Ken’s account and 2 minutes left on my internet account so
we did pretty well. I went on line to down load the last pictures this morning.
I am so impressed with this new system. On other cruises it has taken minutes
to download each picture but now it takes only seconds. I know you have noticed
that I have pictures of almost every event we take part in. Hopefully it will
be the same for this second leg.
When I
checked this morning it appeared as if they had closed our account instead of
carrying it over to this next part. I called and they have assured me that on
their main computer it is correct and the message I received was standard. We
will see when we check out and back in. I sure hope he is correct. It will be a
real pain if he is not. We had a credit on our bill for this leg and they will
be mailing a refund to us and we will have a bill for this leg…. Anyway we will
see. I will check after noon when all should be right.
We have no
plans to go ashore today. We plan to just enjoy the ship. I have looked out and
I can see what appears to be the stacks of SEVEN different large cruise ships.
With crew members and guests coming and guests leaving I figure that there will
be about 60 thousand people visiting this area of the city in the next 5 hours.
Plus the people who service their needs and the ones who live here…..HORRORS!!!
We plan to see if we can get a Princess transfer to the airport next Sunday. We
are not getting a plane but our rental car has to be picked up at the airport.
I will let you know how we make out.
I also want
to report that only one rose in my flower arrangement has wilted. The flowers
are still lovely. I would be so disappointed if they looked great and I had to
leave them on board. It is against the law to take any plants or seeds or meats
ashore so my flowers would have to go into the garbage.
Breakfast
arrived and it was good as usual.
I have lots of hot coffee left so I filled my
princess glass and I will take it along with me,
The procedure
this morning is to take cruise cards, in transit cards, passports and customs
forms and proceed to the Princess Theatre. When all of the in transit
passengers have been checked we will sign back in and then we will be good to
go. The possible hitch will happen if one of the in transit passengers does not
follow the rules and does not appear in the theatre. No one can leave the
theatre until everyone is checked. There have been times when it went smoothly
and there have been times when we all waited for more than a half hour for a
dummie to appear. Some people believe that rules do not apply to them. We will
see how it works out this time.
It went
well … However this was the day that there was a mandatory check of all of the
fire doors and the water proof doors as well as the smoke removal from the
Atrium. That meant we were in the Princess theatre for well over an hour. But
they tried to entertain us by telling jokes acknowledging birthdays and
anniversaries etc. So it was not tiresome. It was quite pleasant as a matter of
fact.
Then we returned to our room and checked the tour tickets and schedules
etc. Then we went toHorizon Court for lunch. We ate with a very nice lady whose
name was Ramond Lyons. She is originally from Quebes, currently lives in FFL
and she is 93 years old. She looked to be in her seventies. She was so sharp
and so interesting to visit with.
After lunch
we came back to call Jenny, and Budget rent a car for next week.
Then we
selected shore excursions for the Cayman Islands and rentals for Princess Cay.
I took the forms down to the shore excursion office, dropped off the Consummate
Hosts forms, checked on the new internet minutes and returned here.
It is a
glorious day. Because we were on the ship last week we do not have to take part
in the muster drill. That is always such a pleasure. After 34 cruises Muster is
very boring.
We went
topside to explore and get a good spot to watch the sail away. There was a fun
atmosphere with people dancing and drinking and visiting. I met a real nice
couple from Ottawa.
Just before
five I headed down to the room and got ready for dinner.
There were
six of us at the table and the main course was Prime Rib. After dinner Ken and I
headed for the theatre to enjoy the comedian, Troy Thirdgill. We had seen him
before on another cruise. I can’t remember when but he was really funny and we
enjoyed a good laugh.
Then we
returned to our room. Ken decided he wanted to put his feet up. We had received
an invitation to an art auction.
It was promoted as a chance to win a thousand
dollars worth of prizes. I decided last minute that I would go down.
I went
down and I won twice.
I won the first prize which was a 50 dollar SPA
certificate and I also won the last prize which was a pendant and earring set
of Misty Topaz from Effy Jewelry.
What a way
to end the day.!!
Tomorrow we
are back at Princess Cays.
