Grand Cayman

Today we were in Grand Cayman. For awhile I had it mixed up with Grand Turk. We have been to Grand Turk before but this was our first visit to Grand Cayman.
We had a trip to seven mile beach planned for the day.
When we woke we were surprised to see that there were other ships in the area. This is a tender port because basically it sits on a coral reef. Besides the Regal Princess ,there was a Celebrity ship, a Disney ship, a Norwegian ship , and a Carnival ship.

We had breakfast in our room and then we went to the Princess Theater to meet with our tour. We were lead to the tender and then on shore we were led to our bus.

It was about a 15 minute drive to the beach. Included in the cost of the excursion was admission to Tiki beach, a lounger and a beverage. Umbrellas were ten dollars. We were lucky enough to get a spot right next to the sea wall with lots of shade so we did not have to rent an umbrella. They had other things to rent and drinks and food to buy. But sadly they did not have any floaty chairs. That I would have rented.

The water was quite warm and the bottom was mainly sandy with the occasional rock or bit of coral. There was also a mat of weeds in some spots. But the weeds were more like a carpet and it was soft and not at all thick. We arrived at the beach around 10:30 and our bus would be back to pick us up at one. The beach was crowded but the group was very friendly with lots of visiting happening. People watching was fun because there were people of all shapes, sizes, ages and colors. There was also lots of eye candy for Ken.

We got a tender back right away and we stopped at the International café and picked up a quiche for lunch. We ate it on our balcony and shared a beer. I quickly showered and dressed and headed to the SPA to have my manicure and my pedicure. It was very nice but even though I had that coupon that I won it was still VERY expensive. Remind me not to accept any more prize coupons.
Then I returned to the room to get ready for dinner. Scallops were on the menu tonight. They also had sugar free coconut cake…. Yummy.

The shows tonight did not really interest us so we decided to go to a hot tub. We decided to head to the Retreat Pool and Bar. Here there is a pool and 2 hot tubs. It was a perfect time to go there because everyone was either having dinner or watching a show. We had the area all to ourselves. It was an amazing warm tropical evening. We enjoyed being there.

I gather that someone has reserved the entire area for some kind of a party. I wonder what they charge to do that. Apparently there are 3 weddings scheduled for this cruise. Maybe it is a wedding reception.
After that we returned to our room to just relax .
Tomorrow we will be in Costa Maya.
This is a stop in Mexico and it is new to us. We don’t arrive until noon and we sail at seven. This is not the usual schedule. We do not have an excursion planned for there
